Apple Pan

Where: 10801 West Pico Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA
Price: $7

Down the historic street of Pico Boulevard in Los Angeles, Calif. is where one of the most old-fashioned burger houses in Southern California. The Apple Pan was established in 1947 and has served burgers, sandwiches, fries, and apple pie for all its customers since. The restaurant resembles a small house that could be found in the prairies of the Midwest in the middle of the 20th century, but is actually across the street from Westwood Pavillion.

Inside, you will find three or four staffers. One taking orders, while the others working in the kitchen, which is located right when you walk in. You will find yourself having to find a spot on the counter, you will have to wait sometime during the lunch hours because they get many customers.

The menu features burgers and sandwiches and deserts. Their special dish is the Hickory Burger which is a cheese burger that has their special hickory sauce as part of their burger. The Hickory Burger is so good that Citysearch, a review website, named it the Best Burger in Los Angeles in 2008.

After the order has been placed, the server will serve the beverage in a tin cup. The place is small and will be overwhelmed with a whiff a barbecue cooking, but that is part of the tradition of Apple Pan that makes the restaurant grabbing customers to come back. Join the tradition as you will experience the unique taste that has made Apple Pan one of the best restaurants in all of Los Angeles.
